State of Affairs

We have officially been here over two months now. So how are things going? School still presents some difficult challenges! For Robbie it is just plain hard work in an atmosphere that can be offensive at times. For ShaeLynn, there are some challenging subjects, but she is surrounded by great teachers and staff who are extremely supportive! We face many challenges as we deal with the teachers at TaLisa's school. They don't seem to want to provide the support we were used to at our public school in Wisconsin! We are learning a lot about what our legal rights are. Nathaniel has a rookie teacher this year, and at times she kind of picks at him. We are just waiting to see how this year goes before we decide if we are going to stay in this school district or not. It has been such an opposite experience for our public school experience in Wisconsin, and to be honest, it has been hugely disappointing!

On the work front, Kris is starting to target the areas where he feels he needs more education. He likes the guys he works with. It has been really good for him to be able to park work at the end of the day and be home with us 100%.

In the area of friendships, we have all started to initiate friendships. We just keep asking God to provide for us in that area.

In the area of church, we have been to multiple churches here. It seems like there are a lot of choices, but not a lot of choices. As I looked at church websites, it looked as it there was one template that all the churches used, just adding different pictures and info. I guess there are a lot of churches we could go to, but not many that dig into God's Word and are deeply family oriented and are friendly. For the first time ever in my life, I understand how intimidating attending church can be for some people. At one of the churches we visited, the only people that spoke to us were the greeters. Obviously, that is not a church we will go back to. This past Sunday we found a church we think we would like to attend. And this week the kids attended the youth group, and everyone came away saying they would like to come back. So this is a good start.
