Last weekend the girls were invited to a birthday party. It was really a fun time, and afterwards we went to our town community center to "usher in Christmas." Santa arrived on a firetruck, and all the town children waited in line to have the chance to give him their Christmas list. Our children know that Santa is not real, but they enjoyed the chance to catch up with their friends while we waited in line. When we got to the front of the line, Nathaniel tells us, "I don't think I'm ready." Fine. We let the other kids go see Santa first. When it was his turn, Nathaniel sat next to Santa, but he wasn't too sure about this man in a red suit. He was sitting with his back completely turned toward Santa-facing the Christmas tree. Santa couldn't even hear him. We finally convinced him to turn toward Santa. I was laughing so hard I could hardly take a picture.
