Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has come and gone! It was really a wonderful day! I had hoped that some of our family that live near here would be able to spend the day with us, but no one was able. I invited some of our neighbors over, but they were flying to be with family. So it was just us. But it was a really really nice day. We enjoyed the typical fare as well as our own special family traditions. But one of the things that made this one even more special was remembering our Thanksgiving holiday last year. Because we were working at a school in the Philippines where Thanksgiving is not a national holiday, school was in session. For some reason I just felt so sad, especially when I looked at all the Thanksgiving comments on facebook. It was a busy day, and we had chicken adobo for supper, which made me even more sad. It was so hot that the thought of cooking made me break out in a sweat, and family was very far away. We ended up celebrating with another family over the weekend, which was really wonderful. In fact, our daughter said she wished we could celebrate with them again this year! :) But we really missed our families! On top of all that, we were facing so many issues at that time. So this year I was thinking back and really finding my heart so thankful to God for how He has brought us through so many difficult things this past year. I am thankful for God's salvation, and the mercy He shows me daily despite my failures. I am thankful for the stability we feel living here and for the great job and people that He has surrounded Kris with. I am thankful for the little church we found to attend with a great youth group my kids want to go to! I am thankful that my sister is just an 8 hour drive away, and that there is good internet and phone service to talk to her. I am thankful for friends, old and new. I am so blessed!
