Fund Raising

Miracles! This process of raising support is often looked on with dread by missionaries and perhaps also by you, as people approach you to share about their ministries and invite you to be a prayer and/or financial participant. However, I wanted to share with you how God is using this in our lives.

First of all, it feels very daunting to raise financial support. It can be intimidating to share with people about financial needs; aren't we taught from a young age that we should be independent and self-sufficient? It can be down right discouraging when you don't see the partnership in prayer or finances that you need to be able to go. These are the feelings that we have faced over the years and particularly in the last few months.

However, God has a way of using these things that seem impossible and difficult to reveal our need for HIM! God has been showing us how important it is for our focus to be HIM, not the process of going, the fund raising, or even the job we will do there. When we get discouraged thinking about how much needs to get done to arrive in the Philippines, He gently reminds us thatwe have lost our focus. When we have asked God if He is serious about this direction for our family, He has answered in ways we could never imagine! I call these things Miracles!

It is miraculous for me to see God touch the hearts of friends to come and help us with all kinds of projects that need done to prepare the house for renting. It is miraculous to see God touch the hearts of indiviuals we have not seen in years to be a part of our support team. It is incredible to see God answer prayers for affirmation and encouragement within hours of having voiced them! It is incredible that He chooses to be concerned with the very details of our life, that He chooses to show us how needy we are so we can be amazed by the ways He meets our needs!

I look forward to seeing how God will work in a miraculous way to provide us a renter and to provide the remaining 17 percent of our financial support needed so we can buy tickets to go.
