Well, we began the Spanish immersion classes on Monday, and it is most definitely immersion! All the classes are taught solo in Spanish. You can ask a question in English, but the teacher will give you the answer in Spanish. Our teachers seem really nice. They obviously do a lot of pictionary on the white board, and some charades! :) I was put in the Intermediate class, but I have opted out of taking Literature and History. So instead I am taking the Beginner Conversation class, then the Intermediate Conversation class, and after lunch Intermediate Grammer. It is stretching me. I find that at times my mind is just overwhelmed with the amount of effort it takes to listen and try to comprehend to respond! Another observation is just how loud Mexicans are. I am not saying this in a negative way; I just am not used to it! Everywhere you go there are barking dogs, loud music, and talking! It is just the way it is.
Last night us ladies went out together for supper. We found the cutest little place to eat. The restaurant has lots of little rooms, comfy chairs, and good food. So far I have not seen many places that cook with many veggies, and surprisingly we have not seen many rice choices either. This is very different from South America where I was raised! We just enjoyed visiting with each other. It was nice. And our total bill, drinks and all came to a grand total of $11 for the three of us to have supper. After our supper we walked down to the plaza. It was beyond description! So many people out. There are men dressed like mistrals who will play music for you if you pay them. And they have lights on the important buildings and statues around the city. Just gorgeous, but noisy! And all ages out strolling around with friends. It is such a social environment.
