The Holidays

We are full blown into the holiday season with Christmas concerts for the kids at school, the Christmas tree up in our living room, and plans to meet with a friend to make gingerbread houses. I really love this time of the year!

But I am struggling to find the balance of it all. I don't want our holidays to be so busy and rushed that we forget the awe of the God of the universe coming to earth as a baby! I think each year as I get older I struggle more to enjoy the holiday. Not because it is so much busier, but because each year I realize how extreme our holiday celebrations are to what the rest of the world experiences. This year I have been thinking alot about the Christians in India being persecuted for their faith. It seems really unfair to think that I live in a warm home with plenty of food while my brothers and sisters in India are in the forests flighting just to stay alive! I pray that God will help me to be more aware of others' needs and that He will make Himself and His protection even more real to those in India.
