Thanksgiving Day in the Philippines.
It was our first Thanksgiving as a family of six without any of our extended family around. We have all missed the fun and excitement of being together during this holiday. Kris’ mom sent us a Thanksgiving box, and inside it was video of different scenes of colored leaves in the Northeast. Nathaniel and I were watching it together, and he told me he was very sad. I asked why, and he expressed how much he misses hiking and seeing the leaves change color and jumping in the leaves they raked up in our yard. Each of the kids have expressed how much they miss our family. Yesterday was perhaps the hardest, because our kids did not have the day off of school. And when they came home for supper, it was chicken adobo and rice. We love chicken adobo, but rice on Thanksgiving? Well, we are going to have a more traditional dinner with another family this weekend, which we are looking forward to. I couldn’t resist adding a can of cranberry sauce that Kris’ mom had sent to our Thanksgiving chicken adobo. So so thankful for goodie boxes! :)
