Conspiracy

I bought hot dogs for the first time since arriving here in the Philippines. I was excited to cook them up as a treat today, the kids' first day of summer break. I cut open the package and placed the hotdogs in the boiling water. Twenty minutes later Kris pulled them off the stove so we could eat them. To our shock, each hotdog was individually wrapped in plastic! I am not talking about cassing that normal hotdogs are in. It was heavy duty plastic! We had to cut the wrapping off each hotdog before putting them in our hotdog buns. Oh, and by the way...you know how there are always 8 hotdogs in a package in the US and 10 buns. Well, here there are six hotdogs in a package and 8 buns. It is a global conspiracy! :)

We have noticed that everything here is extra wrapped, so I guess I should not have been surprised by the hotdogs. For example, pancake mix comes in a 1 kg box (1 kg = 2.2 Lb), and inside are four 1 cup packages of mix each individually wrapped. Then there are fruit juices like caprisun packages...but none of the juices have straws. There are eight straws at the bottom of the box that you have to cut apart to go with each juice. Or there was the package of plastic forks I bought that when opened was separated into two separately wrapped packages. It is crazy! :)

that is funny to hear and I am sure some adjustment on getting used to the differences in the cultures and the ways they do things. makes me appreciate even more the blessed life we take for granted in having things instantaneously <3
